Candy is long, super dairy, and a dream to have in my barn! She comes from some amazing milking lines and her first freshening udder was amazing!
Candy came in 5th in the yearling milker class at the 2022 ADGA Nationals in Harrisburg, PA in a very competitive field of does!
2022 milk test- Candy was credited with producing 1,053 lbs of milk in only 224 days as a FF. Candy is currently sitting in the 87% with a positive PTI (PTI21: 107, PTI12: 80). As a yearling, we couldn’t be more impressed that she hit over 1,000 lbs in a short lactation! Hopefully ADGA runs SG as planned as this stellar little doe has suppressed all of our expectations and certainly deserves the recognition!
Her second freshening udder looked great, with a great/balanced shape, open orifices, and a buttery smooth texture. In 182 days she produced 856 lbs of milk, 41 lbs of butterfat, and 33 lbs of protein. I scheduled her to have a short lactation to move up her kidding date in 2024, however this big girl just loves to milk.
Candy’s third freshening udder did not dissapoint at all!!! In 246 days, she gave me 1,084 lbs of milk, 52 lbs of butterfat, and 43 lbs of protein. She was awarded her first milking leg at the Blandford Fair. She then went on to beat the Champion Challengers, with the judge giving her the nod for Best of Breed and commenting on how he loved Candy’s dairy character as it exemplified what a milking animal should look and feel like.
In December 2024, Candy made the cut and was named to ADGA’s ELITE list!!! I’m so stoked that she landed in the 95%, as she is truly a lovely doe that just loves her job.
Candy will be kept dry for 2025 and bred for an early 2026 kidding.
